Yoko Ono Said Surprising proclamation ‘Ringo Starr Was The Most Influential Beatle’

Yoko Ono says Ringo Starr ‘Was the Most Influential Beatle’. It was in he sixties when Starr rose to fame when he was a drummer for the legendary rock group the Beatles, and the widow of he late John Lennon says Starr “embodies peace and love” at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. She said what was missing from the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony were John Lennon and George Harrison. And hen while backstage at the ceremony in Cleveland, Ohio, Ono made a surprising proclamation about Starr, she said,

the final Beatle to enter the institution as a solo artist. “No one is probably going to believe it,” she told Rolling Stone, “but he was the most influential Beatle.”

Ono said Starr’s honor “means so much to all of us in the Beatle family,” and that she was pleased to see the band’s happy-go-lucky drummer finally get his moment in the spotlight. “For some reason John got it, then George got it, then Paul got it,” she said. “So why didn’t they think about Ringo?”

John Lennon’s widow said that when she entered the Beatles’ orbit, she came to understand Starr was the most popular member of the band. Her explanation? Starr’s steady, kind personality. “John would go up and down and all that,” she said, “but Ringo was always just very gentle. And he really believed in peace and love.”

Ono said she’s glad Ringo has “a long, long life ahead of him” and says Starr doesn’t even have to preach anymore, because “he just sort of embodies peace and love.”

She added there’s the only thing missing from tonight:

“It would have been better if George and John were here, too.”

More on Starr, he is from Liverpool, England, Ringo Starr, and he is known for his easy-going personality.

Ringo Starr has canceled a pair of All Starr dates because of illness. The English drummer and vocalist, real name (Richard Starkey Jr.,) who gained world wide fame being a drummer for the popular band the Beatles has put on hold his U.S. shows with an unknown illness.

That included last night’s (March 12) stop at Santa Ynez, Calif., and tonight’s (March 13) appearance in San Francisco.

This information comes via ABC News Radio, who note that only a pair of concerts now remain (both this weekend, at Pala, Calif., and then Las Vegas), as Starr winds down a tour that began back in February. He is then set to release a new solo album featuring members of the All-Starr Band on March 31, called Postcards from Paradise.

The Chumash Casino, where Starr and company were to perform on Thursday, reports that the former Beatles drummer “hopes to be able to reschedule the date sometime in the future; no date has been set and ticket holders will be refunded.” Tonight’s stop at the Masonic theater has been rescheduled for Oct. 1, according to a new update from the venue.

All-Starr Band member Todd Rundgren co-wrote the title track of Postcards from Paradise, which arrived as the forthcoming album’s initial advance track last week. He and the rest of the current group — which also includes Toto‘s Steve Lukather and Santana/Journey co-founder Gregg Rolie — appear on the new song “Island in the Sun,” as well.

Postcards from Paradise is Starr’s first studio project since Ringo 2012. That was the same year he assembled this edition of the All-Starr Band, his longest-tenured ever. Rundgren also took part in a 1992 tour with the All-Starr Band.
