Daevid Allen, 77, Psychedelic Rock Groups Co-Founder Has Died!

Daevid Allen has died. He was an Australian poet, guitarist, singer, composer and performance artist was co-founder of psychedelic rock groups Soft Machine and Gong. At the time of his death he was seventy seven and he lost his fight to cancer. The also solo artist just last month said he would stop all efforts to fight against an inoperable diagnosis. Today March 13, 2015 his this sad loss was confirmed via the Daevid Allen’s University Of Errors page on Facebook, which said: “Daevid est mort, Daevid is dead.” Last year he had a very extensive round of radiation therapy and got a clean bill of health but the cancer returned.

It was then, Allen said in a posting at PlanetGong, that he made a difficult decision.

“The cancer is now so well established that I have now been given approximately six months to live,” he said. “So, my view has changed: I am not interested in endless surgical operations — and, in fact, it has come as a relief to know that the end is in sight. I am a great believer in “the will of the way things are,” and I also believe that the time has come to stop resisting and denying and to surrender to the way it is.”

Allen left his fans with a few kind words.

“I can only hope that during this journey,” he said, “I have somehow contributed to the happiness in the lives of a few other fellow humans.”

Tributes this morning included one from Flea, of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who said “Daevid Allen was an incredible musician and a great inspiration to me.”

Orlando Allen, Daevid’s son and a drummer with Gong since 2003, shared a remembrace. A new message on the band’s web site simply says: “Everything has stopped here in a house of tears. Tears first, celebration later.”

William Shatner, Feels Awful He’s Won’t Be Present At Leonard Nimoy’s Funeral

William Shatner to miss Leonard Nimoy’s funeral, says “I Feel Really Awful”. The Canadian actor, who gained worldwide fame and became a cultural icon for his portrayal of James T. Kirk, Captain of the USS Enterprise alongside the Vulcan Spock says he will not be able to make his appearance at the eighty three year old’s funeral, who passed away on Friday because he has a prior commitment. Eighty three year old Shatner was the captain on the sixties ’60s sci-fi series and Nimoy was his first officer.

Shatner had said on Twitter after finding out about his death that he loved the actor,

“like a brother.”

“I am currently in FL as I agreed to appear at the Red Cross Ball tonight. Leonard’s funeral is tomorrow. I can’t make it back in time,” the actor tweeted on Saturday. “I feel really awful. Here I am doing charity work and one of my dearest friends is being buried.”

Shatner is set to be honored that evening at the 58th International Red Cross Ball at Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, along with actress Shirley MacLaine and Las Vegas performer Wayne Newton, in front of ambassadors, diplomats and philanthropists from around the world.

“So maybe tomorrow we come together here and celebrate his life,” Shatner added. “So let’s spend some time tomorrow celebrating Leonard’s life and remembering the man. Until tomorrow! #LLAP.”

“Live long and prosper” was Spock’s most famous catchphrase.

Nimoy leaves behind his wife Susan Bay, a son and daughter from a previous marriage, a stepson and six grandchildren.

Leonard Nimoy, Star Trek Mr Spock, 83 Dies

Leonard Nimoy has died, sadly one of my favorite Star Trek stars has passed away. He was Mr Spock alongside William Shatner, Captain James T Kirk, I just loved seeing these two characters of the starship Enterprise exploring new worlds, Nimoy was eighty three years old. It was earlier this week when he had been hospitalized in Los Angles and I was hoping he would be okay, but his wife Susan Bay Nimoy, has confirmed to the the New York Times that he passed away of pulmonary disease,

which he attributed to a smoking habit he had ended 30 years ago.

Nimoy’s character he played was half-human, half-Vulcan and he was a perfect counterpart to Shatner’s character in the series.

He also appeared as “Spock Prime” in the 2013 film Star Trek Into Darkness, in which actor Zachary Quinto took on the role of Spock.

He last tweeted on Monday,

Ben Woolf Dies From Injuries Sustained By Car Mirror

Ben Woolf has died. The star from American Horror Story, Dead Kansas, Woggie and TV Face passed away on February 23, 2015 of a head injury, at the time of his death he was thirty four years old. When he was young he had been diagnosed with pituitary dwarfism, which caused his bones to shrink. Woolf, who was actually a preschool teacher, and who considered his acting a side job was reportedly jay walking when he was struck in the head by the side mirror of a passing car on a Hollywood, California street.

“Ben was one-of-a-kind, and will never be forgotten,” Woolf’s rep tells E! News in a statement. “The time we all shared together will be remembered forever.”

Additionally, Woolf’s family said,

“We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from all over the world for our beloved Ben. He touched so many hearts in his 34 years. His memory will live on within each of us and within his work.”

Woolf stood four feet four inches and he was known for character Meep on Freak Show.

According to TMZ,

which first reported the news of his death, Woolf died at L.A.’s Cedars Sinai hospital after he had a stroke.

On Saturday, just two days after the accident occurred, E! News spoke to Woolf’s Freak Show co-star Naomi Grossman about the tragic accident. “It’s awful to hear the news of your friend [in an accident],

” Grossman, who plays Pepper on the hit series, told E! News exclusively this weekend. “We’re very close.”

Grossman added,

“We’re all in contact, and from what I understand Kathy Bates tweeted that he was out of surgery and he’s now in stable yet still critical condition. So we’re just hoping for the best. I’m waiting like for any moment they’re going to tell me I can go visit and I’ll be there.”

The driver of the car involved in the incident was not ticketed because Woolf was jaywalking, LAPD previously confirmed to E! News. “No crime was committed,” the LAPD said. “The driver remained at the scene.”

Mexican Actress Lorena Rojas, 44, Loses Cancer Fight

Lorena Rojas has died. Sadly the forty four year old Mexican actress, singer, and songwriter lost her battle to Cancer. She passed away in Miami, today February 16, 2015. Since 2008 she faced her fight with courage and a positive attitude through different stages against the decease. She was at home when she peacefully passed away, her loved ones, her boyfriend and her closest friends were with her. She leaves behind

a legacy with an ample artistic history in which she highlights in international soap operas like “El Cuerpo del Deseo,” “Pecados Ajenos,” “Alcanzar Una Estrella” and her most recent project, the series “Demente Criminal.”

She also shinned on the big screen with five films and with theater play “Manos Quietas” and “Aventurera.” Besides her numerous lead roles, Lorena accomplished in only a few months her dream to debut as a musical composer and singer in the production “Hijos Del Sol.”

The children’s album was inspired by her daughter,

Luciana will now be taken care of by her aunt actress Mayra Rojas and her adoptive father, this is what Lorena wanted.

She also loved animals and art in all its expressions and a good dinner with her family and friends.

Pioneering Sportscaster Rhonda Glenn, 68, Has Died


Rhonda Glenn has die. She was an American sportscaster, award winning author and a manager of communications for the USGA, at the time of her death the pioneering female Sportscaster was sixty eight years old, she died of Cancer Thursday night in a Gainesville, Florida hospital, this is what the Associated Press has reported. Following her days with ESPN, she spent seventeen years as a golf historian and manager of media operations for the U.S. Golf Association, she retired in May, 2013.

“In addition to her many accomplishments, what we will miss most about Rhonda is her generosity of spirit, her passion for the game and the people who play it, as well as her kindness and humility,” said Mike Davis, executive director of the USGA, in a statement. “In many respects, she truly represented all that was best about our game.”

It was back in 16 when she started as a sports reporter.

“The fact that I was on what you would call the ‘cutting edge’ really didn’t make an impact on me,” Glenn told ESPN in a profile published in 2013. “It wasn’t something I strived for. I never wanted to be the first, I just wanted the job.”

Also for sixteen years Glenn was a ABC Sports golf commentator.

More on Glenn it was in Palm Beach Florida where she leaned to play Golf, she was also given a William D. Richardson Award for outstanding contributions to the game, in February 6, 1981 she was the first full-time national TV network female sportscaster broadcasting at ESPN. She was also a golf commentator for ABC from 1978 to 1994.
