Patricia Velasquez comes out. She is a Venezuelan actress and fashion super model, and what she has revealed she is a lesbian. In the past there has been much speculation about her sexuality. She is also pageant queen and she and she appeared in The Mummy, well now she makes a starling revelation in her new memoir, “Straight Walk.”
According to excerpts obtained by the New York Post,
Velasquez decided to open up about her sexuality because of anti-gay sentiments in the Latin community. She felt the need to “start a dialogue” about the issue, insisting “the tide is changing.”
Velasquez, who is billed as the “world’s first Latina supermodel,” questioned her sexuality the minute she met Sandra Bernhard at a fashion show. She felt an instant attraction to the comedienne.
“I’d never kissed a girl… I was deeply in love with Sandra, in a way I’d never experienced before,” Velasquez wrote.
She then dated a male photographer
. “There was no middle ground for me – a person was gay or not gay. Being gay was not for me,” she added. But her love for Bernhard wouldn’t dimish.
Velasquez doesn’t spill details about her relationship with the comedienne, but she writes that she struggled after they broke up and “cried for two years over Sandra.”
