Ted Robbins is now stable. He’s an English actor, television presenter and radio broadcaster, at right mow he is playing Barry Quid in the 2014 revival of Birds of a Feather and what happened is during the Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights Live opening night he collapsed. What happened is the comedian, just before he fell to the floor it seemed as if he was clutching his chest during a solo performance at a Manchester Arena, which then had to be canceled.
A Manchester Arena spokeswoman said the performance was stopped,\
“so we could get Ted the help he needed”.
“He’s been taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.”
Last night a Manchester Evening News reporter – who was at the show – described what happened, saying: “Ted Robbins, who plays Den Perry in the hit show, was in the middle of a solo bit.”
She said he clutched his chest and stumbled a bit. They then closed the curtain immediately, with people rushing to the stage to the help, with medical equipiment.
There was confusion in the audience as to whether it was a staged incident or not, and then Justin Moorhouse, who plays Young Kenny, told the audience that it was not part of the show.
Following the incident, Ted Robbins’ agent Malcolm Browning also released a statement thanking the paramedics who have done a ‘fantastic job’.
“The situation is that he is in a stable condition and he’s being looked after by the paramedics who have done a fantastic job.
“We don’t know any more than that at the moment or exactly what happened, but he’s okay and is on his way to hospital.”
Robbins’ friends and fans went immediately to Twitter wishing him a fast and healthy recovery.
Phoenix Nights star Dave Spikey has said the cast and crew of the live shows have rallied around the star.
While Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss shared: “Sending all love and hopes for a speedy recovery to the great Ted Robbins.”
More on Robbins, he presents a Sunday morning show on BBC Radio Lancashire. He is the President of Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary and is the brother of actresses Kate and Amy Robbins, brother-in-law of actor Robert Daws. Alos this year he is going to be performing Cinderella at the Stockport Plaza.
