Joey Feek Halts Cancer Treatments, Over More Devastating News!

Joey Feek hears a devastating diagnosis. He is one-half of the country and bluegrass duo composed of singer-songwriters Rory Lee Feek and Joey Martin Feek, who are husband and wife, and he has decided to stop his cancer treatments in her fight against Stage IV cervical cancer. It was just earlier this year when she was given the horrible news that she had the aggressive disease earlier this year. She has, and Rory has been the one who shared the news that Joey’s cancer had spread. and she has,

been openly documenting her journey through their social media pages and her husband Rory’s blog, This Life I Live. On Oct. 23.

“Sometimes there just aren’t enough surgeries — or doctors — or chemotherapies — or prayers,” Rory Feek wrote. “And you have to wipe the tears from your cheeks and say the words that you were hoping to never have to say … ‘Enough.’”

“Joey had been feeling pretty good overall the last week or two and was ready to start the next phase of treatment,” Rory explained. “This whole thing has been very hard on her, but she knows it’s all part of getting better, so she’s been a trooper and has stayed incredibly positive through it all. She’d done everything she was supposed to do. Followed every instruction that she’d been given and has taken every hard knock that has come her way, and got back up and kept fighting.”

It was in July when she underwent a CT scan for the first time since when the aggressive chemotherapy treatments started, seeing how the treatment has progressed.

“‘I’m sorry to have to tell you this,’” Rory wrote. “That’s how the conversation began.”

Doctors found two new quarter-sized tumors, as well as many smaller tumors in her abdomen. The news led the Feeks to cease all further treatments and return to their home in Columbia, Tenn.

“We came home,” Rory Feek writes. “Not to die. But to live. To put our hands in each other’s and sit out on the back porch and watch the sun set as our sweet little baby girl plays on a blanket in front of us. To bask in the glory of the beautiful life He’s blessed us with and try not to question why we can’t have more of it together. And why He is allowing this to happen.”

As they cope with the reality of this difficult time, the Feeks have asked for prayers and support from fans and friends who have closely followed their journey.

“Even though we know we’ve reached the end of what medicine can do, and while we prepare for what God has put in front of us, Joey and I will continue to pray for a miracle.”
