Hugh Laurie leads the wedding congratulations to Stephen Fry. The English first came to prominence as one-half of the Fry and Laurie double act with his friend and comedy partner Stephen Fry, whom he joined in the cast of A Bit of Fry & Laurie, Blackadder, and Jeeves and Wooster. Laurie sent over his best wishes to the English comedian”love and happiness” after he married Elliott Spencer on Saturday, January 17, 2015, the man, who is thirty years younger than Fry and who has been given credit for helping him find happiness once again.
Fry is fifty seven years old and Elliot is twenty seven, but the age difference didn’t keep them marriage news was announced over Twitter and Laurie a long-time friend and collaborator of Fry’s was among the first to offer his congratulations.
“Bloody hell it’s happened! @ElliottGSpencer has made an honest man of m’col. Love and happiness to all!! (sic)”
It had been just a few weeks past when Fry announced the engagement, but when the wedding news leaked, he wrote on the social media site:
“Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I’m very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!
“Thank you all SO much for your kind congratulations. Deeply touched xxx (sic)”
After announcing their marriage, Stephen tweeted:
“Oh and @ElliottGSpencer and I had our vows witnessed by a mini Oscar Wilde. Because one should. #greencarnations”
Stephen – who’s enjoyed a successful TV and film career – previously joked that he was hoping for a “private wedding”.
