Buddy Holly, Fifty Six Years Past, Petition To Reopen Plane Crash Investigation

Buddy Holly news, there is a petition seeking to reopen the plane crash investigation. Holly was an American musician and singer-songwriter and a pioneer of rock and roll. Holly who was born real name(Charles Hardin Holley) amazing success only lasted one year and a half because of his death in a horrible plane crash.

He had been described by, Bruce Eder ,

as “the single most influential creative force in early rock and roll.”

It was in 1959 when the crash not just claimed his life but also Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper (real name J.P. Richardson, Jr.).

The crash was attributed to pilot error at the time. Now, 56 years later, a petition is hoping to reopen that investigation.

The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed to Billboard that they are currently “reviewing a petition asking us to consider reopening the investigation.” That review process could take “several months,” according to NTSB spokesman Terry Williams.

The original investigation was conducted by the now-defunct Civil Aerodynamics Board, so the NTSB will look into determining if anything was “missed the first time the investigation was done.”

The petition — submitted by New England pilot L.J. Coon — hopes the NTSB will consider factors other than pilot error when determining what caused the crash. The boss of Roger Peterson, the 21-year-old pilot of the ill-fated flight, has long maintained other factors must have been at play, according to Iowa’s local NBC outlet.
