Mary Berry reveals that she is a keen forager. She is an English food writer and television presenter and a judge for The Great British Bake Off and she explains,

Well, she is not just the ‘Queen’ of Cakes’ she also has some other hidden talents such as foraging, and since her childhood days, she has been a keen berry-picker and mushroom-hunter. She has a new television show, which is called Mary Berry’s Absolute Favourites, she does a few things,
she picks prawns in Botany Bay on the Kent Coast and forages for wild mushrooms in the New Forest, which she then cooks in garlic.
“Not a lot of people know this but I’m very good at… foraging. I do like going out and finding free food. I’ve done it since I was a child,” she told The Express.
“Fishing prawns and shrimps from the sea is wonderful, as is picking blackberries, sloes and mushrooms. Having a guide while out looking for mushrooms is really important, though, as picking the wrong type can be quite dangerous.”
As a child during childhood holidays by the sea in Devon,
she picked blackberries, primrose and sloes for sloe gin. Many of her recipes are thought up with foraging in mind – such as her apple and blackberry tart with a crumble, which she described as “ideal for using home-grown or foraged fruit”.

When going on walks, she is always prepared for anything that needs to be foraged. “The other day, we saw some mushrooms and my son said, ‘Mum, have you got your bag in your pocket?’ I’ve always got one in my pocket, just in case. You never know what you’re going to find,” she told the Western Daily Press.
Influenced by Noma, the Danish restaurant has been named the best restaurant in the world many times over, foraging has become a fashionable pastime, with many young chefs searching in open public spaces for wild produce they can serve up.
