Charli XCX says people are ‘ready to accept me’. She is an English singer and songwriter thinks that people have finally come to the realization of accepting who she is and her music. It was in 2013 when the vocalist released her album called True Romance but she believed that the general public didn’t show much interest because people had different expectations from pop music.
Speaking at the NME Awards with Austin, Texas, at the Brixton O2 Academy in London, she told BANG Showbiz:
”I think it’s happening now because pop music changed and people became more ready to accept me. And I got better (laughs)! I feel like I made a record that has connected with people, you know?”
Now the twenty two year old, following the release of her newest album called Sucker she felt the last few months were just ”whirlwind,” but now she wants fame to fall into her lap by recording more music and playing more shows.
”I’m going to spend this year making more music and touring. I’m doing my first ever tour of the UK at the end of March … Hopefully over the next year I’ll be able to take stock of everything, but not right now, I’ve sort of been on a bit of a whirlwind. But I did a lot of sitting back waiting for this moment, so no I’m just ready to go.”
During the event she did perform, and she picked up the Dancefloor Filler Award.
