p style=”text-align: justify;”>Anne Kirkbride’s brother is “struggling to come to terms” with the death of his ‘beautiful sister’. She was an English actress, very popular for her role as Deirdre Barlow in Coronation Street, which she played for over forty years.the actress’s and actor’s from the show paid their tribute to the much loved sixty year old actress who sadly passed away on Monday following a short illness, breast cancer which had spread to her brain.
Kirkbride’s brother John has revealed that the family are “struggling to come to terms with the loss”.
At the time of her death, she left behind her husband David Beckett, her brother and his family, passed away at a Manchester hospital.
Shortly after ITV confirmed the sad news, and now her brother has issued a statement on the family’s sad loss.
“As a family we are still struggling to come to terms with the loss of my beautiful sister, Annie. She was the sort of person who brought light and laughter to everything she did, and she brought magic with her into the world,” John said.
“She was without doubt the most kind, generous and loving person I have ever known, and her death has left an empty space in our lives that will be very hard to fill.”
He also added:
“I’d like to thank everyone who has paid tribute to Annie in the press and on social media – it gave us a lot of comfort and made us feel very proud of her.
“Annie was much loved by us all and was a big part of our lives, and she will be missed very much.”
Producer Kieran Roberts said today:
“We’ll carry on for Annie but today is a day to reflect. We did try and film today but after half an hour it was obvious it wasn’t going to happen and everyone stood down from filming.”
Kirkbride took three month leave from the show last year for personal reasons. She was planning on a return however her illness is said to have gradually gotten worse.
Anne had been in a hospice for a few days fighting the illness with “courage and dignity” before she passed away.
Her husband David Beckett is said to be “heartbroken”.
