Tom Hanks had turned his life around following Diabetes Diagnosis. The Forrest Gump star has now become healthier than he has ever been. What the Saving Private Ryan did was turn his lifestyle around last year, 2013, this is according to his wife Rita Wilson. He shared the news in October, 2013 that he had Type 2 diabetes, a lifelong condition in which the body fails to produce enough insulin. He was advice by his doctors to slim down to control the symptons, however he was worried that he may not be able to she the weight at his age, fifty seven. Hanks quipped,
“My doctor said, ‘If you can weigh what you weighed in high school, you’ll essentially be completely healthy and not have Type 2 diabetes.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m going to have Type 2 diabetes then.’”
But as this was a wake up-call for him, he now feels in tip top shape. The Jingle All the Way actress explains,
“He’s healthier than ever because when you get a diagnosis like that you can’t mess around so he’s probably healthier than he’s ever been now.
“He’s dropped weight, he exercises every day, and he’s eating properly and… thank God, doing really well.”
