Maggie Gyllenhaal has dropped out of Off Broadway play. The actress became well known when she appeared in Secretary. Unfortunately because scheduling problems she pulled out of The Village Bike to stay with hew new play The Real Thing. The World Trade Center star was in preparation of her performance for the production at the MCC Theater in New York in May, 2014, however she has backed out to be able to focus on rehearsals for her Broadway debut in the revival of the Tony Award-winning Tom Stoppard play, according to the New York Times.
Gyllenhaal will star alongside Ewan MCGregor in the show, which follows the story of a playwright who leaves his wife for another woman.
The stage production is set to premiere at the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York in October, 2014.
