Lauren Bacall has died. The screen legend was eighty nine years old. The star was born Betty Joan Perske in 1924 and she died on August 12, 2014 from stroke-related issues. She was recognised first when she was a leading lady in the Humphrey Bogart film To Have and Have Not. When she said,
“You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together and . . . blow.”
Bacall was also seen in How to Marry a Millionaire (with Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable) and Designing Woman (with Gregory Peck).
When Bacall was thirty two years old Bogart died of esophageal cancer in 1957 and she was married to Jason Robards for eight years, and they had one son, actor Sam Robards.
