Polly Bergen has died. She was an actress, singer, television host, writer, and entrepreneur, born in 1930 has passed away at the age of eighty four on September 20, 2014, according to Associated Press. In 1958 she won an Emmy for her performance as Helen Morgan in The Helen Morgan Story and she died at her Southbury. Connecticut home, she was batting against Emphysema and other illnesses in the late 1990s after 50 years of smoking.
During her career, she also recorded albums, starred in films, television and stage musicals. She played the roles as Lynette’s (Felicity Huffman) mother in Desperate Housewives and Tony Soprano’s late father’s mistress in The Sopranos.
Back in 2001 she said:
“I was fanatically ambitious. All I ever wanted to be was a star. I didn’t want to be a singer. I didn’t want to be an actress. I wanted to be a star.”
