Giorgio Armani isn’t ready to retire. The Italian fashion designer and as his eightieth birthday is rolling around the corner this July, has made the confirmation that retirement is not in the cards at this time. He mad a record amount of 2,186 million euros in 2013 and he does want to put an end to his career as of yet. He told Il Sole-24 Ore newspaper:
”I’m about to celebrate my 80th birthday and the 40th anniversary of my brand. The double landmark is an important event that unifies my personal and professional life.
”I’ve still got a lot of energy and my projects for the future are focused on the creativity of the collections and the group’s global strategy.
”For those who are wondering, I can confirm I have no intention of giving up. But I’m continuing to cultivate my team to make sure my business can continue in future.”
He said that he was going fourth with boosting Armani’s retail network in key global markets, and now the company successfully open more than 100 standalone stores. He also reveals that he has some one in mind to take over for him when it does come time for him to retire. He said:
”I would like to reassure everyone that everything is under control. It’s been years that I’ve been planning for my succession and I’ve got a loyal workforce who will take care of everything.”
