Stone Temple Pilots have kicked their front-man Scott Weiland to the curb. Weiland is known as an an American musician, lyricist and vocalist. who was also with the super group Velvet Revolver. The rock band which consists of brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo and Eric Kretz have fired him following a five year run.
There was a short statement issue on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 and has confirmed that Weiland had been asked to quit, but offering no explanation. The press release read:
“Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland.”
He had a tumultuous history with the brothers which had included with bust-ups and break-ups. The trio then did reunite in 2007 just before Weiland was kicked out of Velvet Revolver.
His former band-mate Slash preempted the split story late last year (12) when he told a Minneapolis radio station that Weiland had been “fired from Stp”.
Weiland has recently announced plans for a solo tour. And Representatives for Weiland and the DeLeo brothers do insist that more information about the split will be come out soon.
