Robin Roberts receives a standing ovation at the Peabody Award on her eight Anniversary of her Bone Marrow Transplant. The anchor for ABC’s morning show and Good Morning America had accepted the award on behalf of her ABC program at the 72nd annual George Foster Peabody Awards at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City on Monday.
According to the The Hollywood Reporter, when Roberts took the stage to accept the award, she noted that it,
”is eight months to the day since my transplant. So technically I’m eight months old today.”
Roberts has also abreast cancer survivor, she underwent the transplant to treat the rare blood disorder myelodysplastic syndrome. In February, she made her return to Good Morning America.
