Leona Lewis wants to adopt. The British singer who rose to fame by winning the third series of the reality show The X factor has no ideal if she will have her own children one day but is very keen on the ideal of adopting, the reason is that she inspired by her own mother Maria‘s story of a childhood spent in care.
The ‘Bleeding Love’ vocalist at present doesn’t know if she’ll have kids of her own but does have the determination to give a disadvantaged child a home. Lewis thinks of her own mother as a ‘hero’for her giving her with a wonderful home life and giving her a sense of family unity.
”My mum is a hero to me, that’s given me a very strong sense of family loyalty to those I trust. I will definitely adopt children. I’m not sure if I want my own.”
The twenty eight year old is a strict vegetarian and a campaigns for animals rights and does say that she is closer to animals than she is to humans. She has adopted a few animals and also gives her aid to charities, and gives credit to her mother her how she acts now as an adult.
Speaking to The Times newspaper, she explained:
”I am 100 per cent convinced that adopting animals is a result of my mum’s childhood experiences.
”Her mum died and her dad wasn’t there, so she and her three brothers were taken to a children’s home in Penarth in Wales.
”They grew up there and were never adopted. Who’s going to adopt four children in one go? I am very close to my mum and I think that’s where my protective feelings come from.”
