Iain McColl has died. The fifty nine year old Scottish star from City Lights and as (Doddie) in the BBC sitcom Rab C Nesbitt has lost his battle with cancer. It has been reported that he lost his life at the Beaston Clinic in Glasgow, where he had been receiving chemotherapy treatment.
His sister Martha has paid tribute to the comic, and is quoted by the Herald Scotland as saying:
”Just last week he put on a show for the patients and staff at the hospital and he was hilarious.
“He was doing impersonations of Chic Murray and Tommy Cooper and he had people in stitches. He couldn’t not make people laugh.”
He first spoke about his decease in 2008, looking as if had beaten it, howver in his sleep he passed away. Martha insists that he was not in pain at the end of his life.
“He wasn’t in any pain. He never complained during the whole time he was ill,” she said. “He went to sleep on Wednesday night and slept right through. He passed away last night at around 9pm.”
“The hospital staff are devastated. Iain made such a huge impact upon them. And I’d really like to say the care they gave him right to the end was fantastic.”
