Debra Messing feels guilty over her divorce. The former Will & grace star (Grace Alder) reveals that she will always feel guilt about her divorce because now her son Roman will not be able to grow up in the same ‘fantasy’ family that she did. The very popular actress has put fourth the divorce with her husband Daniel Zelman last June.
The forty four year old feels horrible for her nine year old son called Roman. The couple did do all possible to save their ten year marriage. The actress told the June issue of More magazine:
”We both wanted it to last forever, and it’s a sad thing that it wasn’t able to go the course.
”Part of me will always contend with guilt that I wasn’t able to give my son the fantasy that my parents were able to give me.
”We really tried. We made sacrifices and compromises, and in the end we both realized that we like the day-to-day domestic life.”
Messing that she and her ex are in good terms still as their son will always be their top priority. She said:
”Now we are co-parenting beautifully … We had Thanksgiving together. In my mind, we will be a nuclear family forever.” Messing is now in a relationship with Will Chase, has stated that her marriage breakup did make her question the idea of life long love.
The former ‘Will & Grace’ star said:
”Twenty years. It’s a very long time. I think the institute of marriage is a noble thing. The idea of a partner for life is incredibly romantic. But now we’re living to 100. A hundred years ago people were dying at age 37. Til death do us part was a much different deal.”
