Charlie Watts reveals that Brian Jones’ death was not a surprise to The Rolling Stones band. English drummer and horse breeder Watts has spoke out and expressed that the tragic death of English musician Jones back in 1969 wasn’t a ”shock”, but it was for sure ”very sad”. Watts also goes onto say that his death ”wasn’t unexpected”, Jones’s death occurred of drowning in a swimming pool
He told The Guardian newspaper:
”Shock? Brian dying? No. It was very sad but it wasn’t unexpected. We’d carried him for a few tours and he was quite ill.”
”We were young, we didn’t know what was wrong with him. I still don’t really.
”He always suffered from terrible asthma, and he drank heavily on the road and he got into drugs before anyone else in the band.”
