Allman Brothers Guitarist Dies At 65!

Dan Toler has died. A former Allman Brothers guitarist sadly lost his fight against the decease Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, he was sixty five years old. On Monday February 25, 2015 he died in Florida just a months following his medical condition, known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, rendered him unable to speak or play the guitar.

He had joined up with the band in the late 1970s with his brother David, and played on the group’s 1979 comeback album Enlightened Rogues, 1980′s Reach for the Sky and 1981′s Brothers of the Road.

The Toler brothers also performed in the Gregg Allman Band throughout the 1980s.

Dan went on to form the Townsend Toler Band with John Townsend and the Renegades of Southern Rock.

Just two months after the death of his brother in June 2011, he had been diagnosed with Als.
