Sherman Hemsley, to finally be laid to rest. The actor known for his role as George Jefferson in the series All in the Family and the Jeffersons will now be at peace. A judge over in Texas has put a stop on a legal battle over Hemsley’s will and now he can be buried more than three months following his death back in July, 2012.
The also star of ‘Amen’ and ‘ had passed away of lung cancer, his body was being held at the funeral home as had to rule on a dispute between Richard Thornton, who claimed to be Hemsley’s brother, and an associate named in his will.
Hemsley hda named his friend/manager Flora Enchinton Bernal as sole beneficiary of his estate, which is estimated to be worth around $50,000 (£31,250), but Thornton had contested the will. Also during the hearing at El Paso County Court, Judge Chew did give Enchinton Bernal permission to go ahead with plans to lay the actor to rest.
