In Touch reports: It’s been a month since her history-making run at the Summer Olympics, but interest in Gabrielle “Gabby” Douglas hasn’t exactly abated. Instead, people seem more interested in the gold medal-winning gymnast than ever! Now, the 16-year-old has announced plans to write a quickie book, which will be in stores by Christmas.
“Even before I competed in the Olympics, I always wanted to write a book,” Gabby explains. And, as young as she is, she’s certainly got her fair share of material: She’s recently spoken out about the racist bullying she endured as a young gymnast.
Gabby also promises that her family’s struggles will be covered in her story. “[It] will also be about how much my family and I have overcome during our journey. It hasn’t been easy.” But Gabby’s not the only member of the Fierce Five crew to be mulling a career change: McKayla Maroney recently confessed that she wants to become an actress “for real TV and movies.” Perhaps, if she’s needing inspiration, she’ll pick up her teammate’s book. As Gabby says, she hopes people will read it and “think anything is possible.”
