‘West Wing’ actor Martin Sheen was to learn that his son Emilio Estevez had almost drowned. The ‘St. Elmo’s Fire’ star’s father had revealed that he was shocked when he realized that this had almost happened on the set of Apocalypse Now.
The famous pair, who recently starred together in The Way, have now written a book about their relationship. The fifty year old does’t forget his almost dying while his father had accompany on the set of the film, explaining that star Laurence Fishburne had in fact rescue him.
Sheen told Access Hollywood that he learned many things about his son while working on the book, and that the near-death experience was the most stunning.
“We didn’t have a clue that that had happened. I wanna call Laurence and thank him… I would have gone up and hugged and kissed him and thanked him [on the set] but I didn’t have a clue.”
