Former ‘Spice Girls’ Melanie Chisholm(Sporty Spice) had been given some extra help for depression after she gave birth, the British singer-songwriter, actress and businesswoman in fact was given the medical help and more that she needed when her daughter was born in the year 2009 over some fears that her hormones would reignite her battle with depression.
The former Spice Girls star has suffered well-publicized battles with eating disorders and sought treatment for depression in 2002. She and her partner welcomed the child Scarlet and soon after health experts insisted on keeping a close eye on the singer as she settled into motherhood. Chisholm tells the Daily Mirror,
“I needed an emergency caesarean and after the birth, my health visitor checked in on a regular basis as she was aware of my history of depression. My mum was also a fantastic help and she travelled down to London from Liverpool every weekend for the first few months.
“I believe their support helped keep my depression at bay. I have never felt better and I haven’t had any gloomy thoughts in years. I now weigh around nine-and-a-half stone. I am five foot, six inches – it’s a good, healthy weight.”
