‘Family Feud’ Host Richard Dawson Has Died He Was Seventy Nine! (Video)

Family Feud’ host Richard Dawson has died, he was seventy nine. The English comedian and game show host passed away June 2, 2012 due to complications of esophageal cancer, his son has confirmed. He was also known for one of his first roles as Corporal Peter Newkirk in Hogan’s Heroes, and his other roles such as in Match Game and Running Man.

Gary Dawson wrote on Facebook:

“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my father passed away this evening from complications due to esophageal cancer. He was surrounded by his family. He was an amazing talent, a loving husband, a great dad and a doting grandfather. He will be missed but always remembered…” He had been married to Diana Dors back in 1959 before they were divorced in 1866.

Dawson married Gretchen Johnson in 1991. The couple met when she was a contestant on Family Feud in 1981.

He is survived by three children and five grandchildren.
