Billy Scott ‘The Prophets’ Lost His Cancer Battle He Was 70!

Billy Scott has died, he was seventy. The Rhythm and blues vocalist from the group The Prophets has lost his battle with cancer. He had passed away from pancreatic cancer in North Carolina on Saturday at his home in Charlotte, .according to

And a close friend and employee of his, Lulu Quick, said

“He was an excellent entertainer, just a sweet person. Would give you the shirt off his back.”

On October 5, 2012 he had celebrated his birthday, at time he did not appear ill. Some few days had passed and he started suffering stomach pains.His condition worsened. Just before his death he was in the works of  bringing beach music back to North Carolina’s youth.

The Beach Music Association’s president, Harry Turner, paid tribute to the late singer, saying,

 “He was one of the most amazing people you’ll ever be around.”

Scott was known for the hit wonders “I Got the Fever.”  “California” and “Seaside Love“. Scott had been inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 1999.
