‘Bee Gee’ Robin Gibb reportedly delayed cancer scans for a tour. The sixty two year old died after a long battle with colon and liver cancer back in May, had refused to see a doctor for scans that could detected his illness.
His widow Dwina Gibb who is fifty nine year old explains to Daily Mail Weekend magazine that he ignored the advice of doctors and her pleading with him to have the cancerous cells fully checked.
But in October 2012 when he had to go for an operation to remove an intestinal blockage it had been discovered. She and her son Robin John twenty nine tried and tried for him to forget the music and go.
”He didn’t want to stop and I said ‘Please just have the scan’.
“Despite all his wonderful ways, Robin could be very stubborn and he never liked bad news – he just didn’t want to know.
“He went to do a show in New Zealand as they’d just experienced an earthquake.
“Maybe it was very important for him to do that show, but it was still important for him to have his scans.”
She has also stated that because he toured the cancer had developed into a secondary stage. It was too late for when he had a check up for the tumour had spread to blood vessels.
His last days were cherished by his family.
“We ended up having a wonderful few weeks with him,” Mrs Gibb said.
