He has realized the diffuclty just as much as anyone else. The 2006 Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated will be set to release a new book on fatherhood, A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger than Basketball.
According to the Huffington Post, playing basketball has always been Wade’s life’s dream, being a father means so much more to him.
“As a child, I grew up with aspirations to one day be a professional basketball player, and I am living that dream every day as a proud member of the Miami Heat,” Wade said. “However, the daily role I play in the lives of my two children is the single most significant undertaking of my life, and the job I take most seriously.”
The star’s path to this point in time has been a bit rocky as in 2011 he had won sole custody of his two boys Zaire Blessing Dwyane Wade and Zion Malachi Airamis Wade, from ex-wife Siohvaughn.
Most recently, Wade participated in the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend’s Fatherhood Heroes round table discussion. He told the room of fathers,
“I don’t have to share [my story] with people, but I felt there was a need,” she said. “So many people came up to me in this process, so many fathers, so many men came up to me to congratulate me and to ask me how I did it and why I believed I could do it.”
